Popcorn!!!!

We are having a blast with Grammy and Grampy here in Columbus for the week! I cannot believe it is already Wednesday. Man!

They arrived Saturday and I honestly can't remember what we did. My memory is terrible! I will have to ask Korina as she remembers everything! It is pretty sad when I have to rely on my children to keep me "with it". Maybe it will help if I go backwards. Let's try it out:

Tuesday - It was supposed to rain yesterday so we scheduled a "tour" of Al's delicious popcorn factory. The "tour" was actually a video of the store from 7 to 10 years ago. Al died in 2004 and his wife shortly thereafter. Even though the "tour" left much to be desired, it was a wonderful piece of Columbus history that was worth the time slot. The best part was we got to try about 7 different kinds of popcorn - out of the 60+ that are available. Everything from Jalapeno Cheddar to Peanut butter and jelly. We ordered a bit of popcorn. YUM! They have great gift tins as well. I'm thinking Christmas!

We also shopped for Vera Bradley purses. LOVE Vera bags!!! Korina even got a purse! She is excitedly deciding what she will carry with her. We also found a great sale at Von Maur! I will have to remember that their sales are worth it!

Monday - We shopped! We shopped. We shopped. We shopped at the mall for Twinkle Toes for the girls and were successful in finding a pair for each of the 3 sets of toes. They all twinkle now. They each got an outfit as well, as Sears was having a 40% off sale.

We then went to the Morgan House and Mom were not as impressed as she anticipated. It reminded her of the places that MeMe would drag them to. BUT they did have Vera bags there! We shopped those but didn't buy. Good thing! The backpack that I wanted was on sale at the Tuesday place!

Sunday was church on the beach. Well as beachy as Ohio can get. It was Alum Creek. The place just grosses me out and I'm not easily grossed but Eck! Sand everywhere. And for some unknown reason right after Korina was baptized, Makara decided it was her turn and after 2 hours of Mommy saying, "No further than your ankles" decided to wade into the water toward Pastor Terry up to her thighs and yes, mid skirt. Of course I was capturing the wonderful, previously mentioned event with the camera and didn't notice until Pastor Terry scooped her up and began carrying her back to shore. Lovely. I'm sure our entire attending church now knows that I am not a fan of the beach. They probably don't know my name, but they know that much.

We went to lunch at Korina's choice and as she used to refer to it as Mexico. It was a good meal and we all left rather stuffed. That evening Mom and Dad had a dinner date so we hung out at the house.

And here we are to Saturday and I'm still lost. Oh I have it! Saturday Mom and Dad arrived around 3:30, we met them at the hotel and went to the zoo for our church's annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. It was catered. So knowing this I was not expecting an outside affair with hamburgers and hotdogs. But now I know for next year. We let the kids play in the fountain and visited the sleeping polar bear sisters then the zoo was closed. We dropped the Gram's off at the hotel and slept soundly in our own beds.

Today - I know it is not exactly backwards but oh well. We slept in - well Korina slept in. Makara woke me up at 7:30 declaring that she watch "a little bit of tv" along with the finger and thumb in place about an inch apart indicating how much a little bit actually is. Because we all know Mom has no clue. Korina got up around 9 and they watched until ... I'm ashamed to say. Around 11 we headed out to meet the Gram's and Nadia (who stayed with them last night) to go to Powell and walk and shop. We saw many things and found another adorable "gift" store. But we were soon spent as we have shopped 2 of the 4 days. So we grabbed lunch at Olive Garden, then dropped the Gram's off at the hotel so they could gear up and hop the hog and go up to the Harley store. Me being not so much of a shopper (that gene missed me) am done with the shopping (especially since we are going to the basket place tomorrow) opted to sit this one out. So the girls and I are home and they have a neighbor friend over playing nicely down stairs. Not sure what the rest of the day holds. I will update another day.
