Reader

I am a reader. I do love to read. I am picky about what I read though. I like information but I will find that on the internet. I read blogs, facebook to the point of boredom, and baby center posts until I've read them all and there is nothing left. But at the end of a day I enjoy curling up with a good novel. Mostly Christian Fiction Novels. Can't be anything SiFi or too complicated that I can't figure out. It has to be an "easy read" so that I can unwind.

The newest author I have found is Deeanne Gist. I just finished Deep In The Heart Of Trouble. I really enjoyed this book. Set in the late 1800's during the oil days. It was a great mix of adventure and romance. I liked it so much I have just begun her A Bride In The Bargain. This one is set in the mid 1800's and is about lumberjacks in the West and Civil War in the East. Very much looking forward to it.

I don't get a lot of time to read. At the end of that day I am usually asleep by page 5. The best time for me to read is on Sunday's after church and lunch when the babies are sleeping and Korina is playing on the computer. Jeff is usually on his laptop and the house is semi-quiet. I can get a good hour of reading in then. Another fave is if I've done my workout and the kids are outside playing, I can sit on the porch in the sun and read while they play. Every now and then I have to play as the dr or the mom or the dog but generally I get to stay on the porch those days.

This weekend I am going to Mt Vernon Nazarene University for a woman's retreat with Lysa Terheurst as the guest speaker. She is a wonderful lady and devotion writer/blogger. She is real - unafraid to lay it all on the line for everyone to read about. The level of vulnerability that she exibits is so attractive to those of us that live similar lives, have similar thoughts and similar reactions. We just don't blog about it. She is the founder of Proverbs 31 ministries. I am excited to get to go and hear her speak in person. I hope to get to say a personal "Hi" and shake her hand. I also want to get her new book, Becoming More Than A Good Bible Study Girl. We will see. It seems I've been asking for so much money lately.

This retreat is a bit of money but I am so thankful that Jeff is allowing me to go. The last time I went away for a night with no kids was to Powette in September 2001. Right after that was 911 and 2 short weeks after that we found out Korina was on the way!

We went to the skating rink and out to lunch that day. Korina just got new shoes for Sunday's, I want to order Keyboard Capers for Korina to begin piano lessons with, we owe the library about $20 for late fees, I want to get the girls Easter dresses not to mention Easter baskets then it will be May and we will have the Mother's Days and birthdays to think about. At that time MeMe will probably be coming to live with us. Life takes money. And when I am the one running the house and clothing supplies it seems that I am asking for it constantly. Most of the time I can include it in the grocery shopping. But I'm not a fan of the dresses that are at Walmart this year.
So I am excited to get to go away for a night, be rejuvenated and come back a better wife and mother. Thanks Jeff!
