So it is Friday and I was hoping to get into a habit of blogging 3 times a week. I will settle for 2 this week. There is always a lot of stuff going on around here but most of it doesn't seem to thrilling to the masses.
I got a day off today! It was quite unexpected. I kind of feel like a pull toy. You know, those little toys we used to play with as kids. It is like a train that has a string and as new walkers we would hold onto the string and walk along while the train followed us. We were thrilled that it would move when we moved and laugh and giggle and begin to run only to have it follow us faster. Sometimes we got so scared because it wouldn't stop and we would get tripped up so it was like a possessed toy. Anyway - I feel like I'm being pulled along.
The parents of two of the kids I watch are extremely kid oriented. I personally don't feel that this is good parenting but they didn't ask me. So I bite my tongue and complain to my best friend. Good thing she loves me! The parents separated about a year ago and the kids stay every other night at the other's house. For example: Mon Wed - Mom, Tues Thurs - Dad and they trade weekends. Not only am I confused but the kids are too.
We had a lot of errands to run today and knowing that I went to get the car seats from Mom last night so that she can get them and the seats when she picked them up.
This morning Dad calls at 8 saying that the kids are still asleep and that Aunt will bring them later when they get up. Well the issue with that was that in one hour the cat had to be at the shelter's for spaying (finally) and then we after gassing up the van we were off to Korina's dr apt. We wouldn't be back until 11 or so. He said that he would wait and see what the kids were going to want to do (come to me or stay with Aunt). I was a little upset at this because I felt like I was waiting to see what I could do with my day. Around 10 Aunt calls and says that the kids want to stay there.
The nice thing - a day off!!! Here we come zoo!!! Wait a minute. We still have to get a birthday present for the party we are going to tomorrow AND Jeff wants to get the tires rotated and oil changed on the van. Plus one of our favorite stores is having a major sale (Lifeway Christian book Store) and we want to stock up for stocking stuffers and such. The party is tomorrow at 12:30 meaning we have to leave at 12 and the morning does not hold enough hours to get it all done. So - Errands - Here we come!!! We did all but the van stuff and in 5 minutes we will leave to get the oil changed.
The van things need done because we are going to a family reunion next weekend (YAY!!!) and they need done desperately before we take another long trip. We are excited to see our family. Some we haven't seen since before Thanksgiving!!! I actually don't know how long it has been since we've seen Aunt Joann. And Grandmother and Ourfather we last saw in January. Grandma and Grandpa was April and others it has been well over 18 months I think - April, Mandy, Jim,, Judy. Nadia will be overwhelmed with all the new people and Makara will too!!! But it is overwhelming when you are with so many people that love you.
For now - we are off to change the oil in the van.
